We touch feet to receive blessings from our elder/teachers, but why? Feet are represented by 12th house which is house of giving away/exit/loss. So, in order to receive anything from other person we need to focus and sit beside/below their feet. Also, Lord Vishnu in Vamana avatar placed his third step(feet) on King Bali to give/bless him. Further, when lord Ram killed king Ravana, he asked his brother Laxman to go and learn from Ravana. Laxman went to king Ravana and sat beside his head to listen to whatever he has to say but he didn’t utter a single word. Then Laxman went back and informed to Lord Ram about no response. Lord Ram adviced him that if you want to receive anything from anyone, always sit below their feet. Laxaman went back and sat below/beside feet of king Ravana , and then he taught the biggest learning of his life that ‘Always do the right thing even when no one is asking for it’.
How to receive blessing or bless people with feet in today’s world?
when we kneel down to touch feet our crown chakra receives the blessings . elders activates our crown chakra by keeping their palm on our head . its really a good question .

thank you for the query, ninth house is guru and twelth house is fourth from ninth as per bhawath bhaawam means sukh of guru and blessing of guru it is also signifying feet …so feet of guru will lead to sukh from guru meaning Jupiter, that is from Vedic astrology point of view. From the traditional etiquette point of view and health and well being as well – The nerves in the human body, starting from our brain, spread all over our body and end at our fingertips and toes. While doing padasparsham ( charan sparch or peri Pena or touching feet), when the fingertips of your hand are joined to the feet of the opposite person, a closed circuit is established between the two immediately and the energies of your bodies are connected – your fingers and hands become the receptor of that energy, while the feet of the elder person become the giver of the energy. When the elder accepts this respect, their heart becomes filled with good thoughts and positive energy, which they give out through their hands and feet…. jai mahadev maa gauri
